Yeah, so metal gear (actually the fandom mostly) has been more than a bit disappointing lately (the reaction to the reaction to quiet), so im moving onto fresher, more terrifying grounds.

Silent hill and resident evil.

it does help that both series have a) more games, and b) more games that i can actually play. So yeah. b/c im trash, ive got fic in mind, but nothing near completion. like everything else i write haaaaaa

Also, has anyone else noticed the weird thing in fanfic (mostly badfic) where the narrating character will just stop and describe how sexy the romantic interest is? Like

"Oh no," said the man in immediate danger of dying, "you have to stop the bomb!"

Protagonist looked at him. He was... cute, with full sexy lips, and soft, mousey hair. His skin looked smooth, and he was wearing a jacket that showed off a stretch of pale skin when he raised his arms to shriek in terror.

And then romantic interest blows up b/c the protag is too full of libido to do anything useful

Also like the words "cute" and "sexy" are used wayyyy too much. Its creepy when full grown adults are refered to as 'cute'; tbh its like infanfilising. and then they use sexy in the same sentence and its this weird psuedo pedophillic vide that creeps me out.

but yeah

Psh, I wont be gone forever. (knowing me, I'll be gone until the next trailer, and then mgs will reel me back in, like a cruel and somewhat misogynistic fisher)

Ha, yeah. I'm terrible at horror in all its forms, but the story is just so fascinating that I cant help but keep playing

I know what you mean. To be honest, I didn't really grow up playing video games (aside from like.. Tetris and whatever I played at arcades) although I thought they were amazing. My parents were just in the "you'll rot your brain" camp, so I didn't actually own a game system until high school, and even then it was a kind of broken PS1 I bought off a friend. So let's just say my skills as a platformer/real time gamer are uh... lacking. (I can line up little colored dots with other colored dots until they vanish like a pro, though.) As much as I enjoy the story of many game series (MGS, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy, etc) I tend to be a game spectator, watching my friends or husband actually go through the game.

I actually sat down with a friend this weekend as he attempted to play SH1 for the first time, and when he started having a little trouble with the control scheme (the weird reverse airplane controls) he handed the controller to me and I was not much better. I can talk characters and story and symbolism all day, but if you want me to avoid that demon dog camping by the mailbox, you're out of luck.

Blech, that sucks. Luckily, I am the child of huge nerds (my mom got the original gameboy back in the nineties by returning a salad spinner that was a house warming gift), and I've been playing video games since I was a wee small thing. But yeah, there are definitely games were I enjoy the story over the actual game. And sometimes even the really meta bits, like the point of the story and the game in real life (like Spec Ops: The Line, which I would never play, but its great to see the point of the game).

Although, I did end up passing the controller to my roommate for Outlast. It was 100% 2spooky for me; I screamed at every one of the jump scares, and fell out of my chair at one point. But shes like... really awful at video games and kept like running into walls, so I had to take it back :(

Not to be a terrible internet stalker or anything, but do you happen to have fics/work posted on any other sites? Your liquid/otacon has now given me a soft spot for liquid and I think I've read every story ever posted on ff.net with him as a featured character (all 12 of them) and I'm bummed out so I'm hoping you have fun works in other fandoms for me to enjoy. :3

*annnd sorry for posting that here. I felt silly posting it on the comm livejournal entry.

Its no problem at all. I have a fanfiction account, an ao3, and a tumblr. Fanfiction and ao3 are under the penname: Haropkrates, and my tumblr is biofreak659. I have a separate tumblr where I post fic: harpowritesanddraws.

Er, my older stuff is... not good, but if you want to subject yourself to bad humor and my Naruto phase, knock yourself out.

And yeah, no problem; I'd feel weird clogging the comments section (more than I already have).

Hey, thanks! Even if there's not a lot up there, I do always enjoy seeing what people have bookmarked and faved. I'm thelonebamf on pretty much everything I use so if you see high fives/kudos/whatever the reward system for a various site may be from that name, that's me. :3

Thanks for letting me chat with you, btw. It seems so silly- but I've definitely been lamenting the "good old days" of livejournal with friends where it was totally common place to make fandom friends this way, but totally can't remember the last time it happened.

Yeah, I'm not exactly prolific, despite my better intentions. And thank you.

Aww, its no problem. I guess social media evolves?
